If you’ve been following Capsoul for a while, you’ve probably noticed that our flagship products — the Capsoul Pack and the Onyx Carry On are currently out of stock.
That’s not an oversight. It’s a decision I made intentionally.
Over the past year, I’ve been doing something most brands don’t openly discuss: rebuilding our entire supply chain from the ground up.
My Commitment to Local Manufacturing
When I first launched Capsoul, production was based entirely in Hong Kong. The quality was strong, but the process came with challenges — large purchase orders, long lead times, and inflexible requirements that made it difficult to stay both sustainable and profitable. Add in unstable tariffs, fluctuating shipping rates, and recent port strikes under this administration, and it became nearly impossible to operate a small, independent brand the way I envisioned.
So, I made the bold choice to reshore our manufacturing, moving production home to the Midwest, where I can work directly with local sewers, pattern makers, and small-batch factories.
That decision came with some sacrifices to our product line. We had to focus on creating products that matched the current capabilities of our local manufacturing partners, designs that allowed us to build momentum while strengthening the foundation of our new supply chain. For now, that means temporarily pausing our original flagship products while we work on bringing them back, new and improved, made right here in Cleveland.
Rebuilding a local supply chain isn’t quick. It means developing new patterns, testing new materials, and training new teams, and saying no to shortcuts. That’s why our original designs are temporarily sold out. We’re not just restocking, we’re rebuilding.
When these bags return, they’ll represent everything we’ve learned about craftsmanship, quality, and sustainability. Each one will be sewn with precision, built to last, and made right in my hometown.
What’s Next
As we transition to local manufacturing, we’re focusing on a smaller, more intentional product lineup. The first release is The Tufl, a weekender built for short trips, gym runs, and everyday use.
It’s our first bag designed and produced entirely in Cleveland, made with premium, water-resistant materials and our signature gunmetal hardware. You can choose between two styles: the Luxe, crafted with a sleek leather exterior, or the Utility, made from durable performance fabric. Both are lined with soft microfiber to protect your essentials. Packing cubes can be added separately for organized storage of shoes, toiletries, or gym gear.
The Tufl carries forward the same design language Capsoul is known for: clean lines, smart functionality, and elevated details, now made closer to home with a level of craftsmanship we can stand behind.
